Wednesday, April 15- from Sahagùn to Leòn by train. The whole gang decided it was time for a day off to rest the body and for me to rest my foot. The first train was too early so we decided to wait for the 12:51 train. We always have to be out by 8:00 am so we had lots of time to put in before our departure. We went to a café/bar for breakfast and stayed there for 2 hours. We walked around a bit then went to another café/bar so that Rémi and Monique could have some churros. We then headed to the station and later learned that our train was delayed by one hour. It is a small station so nothing to do. We finally boarded the train at 1:50 and headed for Leòn. It was a nice train and the ride was only 35 minutes. .Leòn is a big city with 130,000 inhabitants. We walked to the Albergue, which was not easy to find. We ended up asking at least 3-4 locals. This hostel is run by nuns and has a nighttime prayer for the pilgrims. There is a church next door and that is where we will head at 9:30. Leòn has a lot to offer for tourists. Here are a few of the sights.
These are churros. They are dipped in chocolate.

Train station in Sahagùn
We see lots of storks on tops of churches and other tall structures. They are very busy building nests and feeding.

The other pictures are from our visit in Leòn. There is an amazing cathedral here. We toured it this afternoon. The pictures do not do it justice. Also, the Lightning is not conducive to taking photos.

It was filled with stained glass.

This bottle of wine was included with Ron's supper. Needless to say he shared some of it.
We are off to church for the pilgrim's prayer then to bed. I will take the bus to Astorga tomorrow as Imy foot is still not great to walk 25 km. I am hoping to rejoin the group in two days once they meet up with me. Their trek tomorrow will take them from Leòn to Mazarife, 24 km, then on Friday they will walk from Mazarife to Astorga. This is a long more arduous hike- 31 km. I will be happy to see them on Friday. It's always a real drag for me to miss out on the walks and the experience with my amigos.
