Sunday, April 19- Ron, Rémi, and Monique's day. From Foncebadòn to Ponferrada. 28 km.
This was probably the most scenic walk thus far. The forecast was for snow, but luckily just fog and cold. Once the fog lifted it was an incredible sight. Foncebadòn is at 1400 km so it was a downward trek early on. They arrived at Cruz de ferro ( the iron cross) where you are supposed to leave a rock ( or something) and make a wish, a prayer, say something of worth to yourself. Rémi had decided to place a Moncton High pin to reflect on his years as a teacher and on his retirement. Ron had carried a rock that he had collected from the Georgian Bay when we had been there who knows how long ago. Monique left a rock that she had picked up along the way. It was still foggy which made the ceremony very surreal. Again, the bushes were in full bloom, a kaleidoscope in the mountains. There was a 1000 m descent into Molinaseca. This is a beautiful tourist stop. Then onto Ponferrada where they met up with me at the Albergue.
