Saturday, April 18- this is Rémi, Ron, and Monique's day.
This walk is from Astorga to Foncebadòn- 27 km. The scenery was awesome. There were blue, yellow, white and purple bushes everywhere. There were a few ups and down, but the during the last steep climb the heavens opened up on them and it was hail, rain,a dn wind. They got caught up in a storm. The poncho were taken out to protect the gear and bodies. They met up with Andy and a really nice Spanish hombre who were sheltering in a hut. They finally made there way to the village and stopped at the first albergue. This one proved to be very crammed and noisy. They were refunded and headed out to find another hostel. Luckily the next one was great. The storm had affected the power in the village but luckily the stove was gas, so if nothing else, they would be fed. They had beer and chips waiting for the power to return and to have warm showers. They met Mike and John from Vancouver along with Arnold from Germany and a Korean father and son duo. The owners were very hospitable. Supper consisted of salad, calamari, bread, wine, (of course) tortilla, and penne. After the supper, the father served up a concoction for the pilgrims to drink to serve as good fortune on the camino.
Father making the brew.

Lots of canola fields.

Another great sculpture of St.James.
