Thursday, April 16- the walkers went from Leòn to Villar de Mazarife.- 22 km it started off through the suburbs, but then the walk turned onto a rural road through farmland and a couple of small villages. The homes that are built into the hillside are used as wine cellars. They arrived in Villar de Mazarife around 1 pm. It was a quaint Albergue for about 30 pilgrims. They walked into the village for a beer and a few tapas. A bunch of men of a certain age were playing dominoes. It got quite loud.
The guy at the Albergue was making a traditional drink to share with the pilgrims. He lit it on fire and was mixing it up before the flames died down.

Canola fields abound in this area.

Church in Villar de Mazarife.
