Monday, April 20th- sunny and highs expected at 20-21. The three walkers are headed to Villafranca del Bierzo. It's about 23-24 km, but pretty straight forward. They've been through some pretty big mountains these last few days and going up and down has taken it's toll. Rémi and Monique had their bags transported ahead. Rémi's back was in spasm last night so he didn't want to push it today.  I took a cab to the bus station and arrived at 8:35. Then I found out that the bus taking me to Sarria didn't leave until noon. Also, it would not be direct. I had to get out at Lugo, change bus, and pay 3 Euros more. I arrived in Sarria around 2:30. It's a nice size city only 13,000 so I shouldn't have any issues finding my way. I walked to my hotel. I just lucked out as I turned out of the station and headed in the right direction, then found my street and finally the hotel. It's very nice compared to what we are used to. It has a nice restaurant/bar downstairs and it seems busy. I saw an amazing salad being served. That is what I will have for sure.
Scenic pictures from the bus.

After checking into my room, I sat out on my little balcony for about 30 minutes. It got very hot out there. I then took a shower, and decided it was time to be a tourist. Just outside my hotel I find the symbols for the trail. I decide to follow them as they always bring you to the old part of town. Well, about 20 minutes later, I am there. It is very quaint. Lots of restaurants and hotels/Albergues.

The church in the town square.

The pedestrian only street.

I just liked this sculpture above a hotel.

A view of Sarria from the top of the old town.
I went to the bar downstairs to have a drink and some food. It is 8:00 and I have yet to have heard from the rest of the gang. This is strange but possibly the Internet is down or something.  I'm going to hang out in my room, get off of my feet and read  The Pillars of the Earth which was suggested because of the history that we are seeing here in Spain.

Supper tonight- ensalada mixta, beer, and bread.
